Muslims in America - The Misunderstood Millions

Description: Muslims in America - The Misunderstood Millions

"When the Oklahoma City Federal Building was bombed in 1995, many media and law enforcement experts were quick to blame Muslims for the crime, falling back on a widely held perception in recent times that links Muslims with terror, and other common stereotypes that are often based on prejudice and ignorance. In this program, ABC News’ Nightline returns to Oklahoma City to look at the backlash against the Muslim community. It then moves to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, home of the oldest mosque in the U.S., to learn what it is like to be a Muslim in America, struggling daily against the weight of negative stereotyping. Ted Koppel then speaks with John Esposito, Director of the Center for Muslim Christian Understanding at Georgetown University, who explains the similarities and differences between Islam, Judaism and Christianity. This film provides a revealing look at some of the issues American Muslims regularly face, while debunking many of the commonly held misconceptions about Islam and Muslims."

This video, which is prepared by ABC News after the bombing in Oklohoma City in 1995, addresses the issue of making prejudiced connections between terrorist groups and other Muslims. Although the video is little bit old itself, the matters are still quite new, as they are renewed after unfortunate event of 9/11 in 2001.

Terrorism is equated with Islam most of the times but that is not Islam/faith causing the problems, it is the people who have different social, economical, and educational backgrounds.
There are many Muslims all over the world; Indonesian, Chinese, Turkish, English, Arab (they are only a minority as opposed to the common perception) all having their cultures, their way of livings.

Muslim is one who submits to God and Islam is not much different from other great world religions as there is only one God, and that is the Almighty God to whom Christians and Jews believe.
Islam also accepts that revelation came through all prophets, beginning from Adam, to Abraham, Moses, Jesus and finally to Muhammed. Muhammed is the final prophet but not the God. He is only one humble person, servant of the God, that brought the words of God to all people.
One other essential belief in Islam, -it is another common denominator with other divine religions- is accountability of the actions, is that we are responsible for all our actions and on the day of judgment everybody will go before God, and see what he/she has done in his previous life, which is only given to us for test purposes. Then God is the only one who decides either we will receive eternal reward or the punishment.
